DSA Contractor VanPool Program

A Contractor Vanpool can transport up to 8 tradespeople with their tools. Riders meet at a METRO Park and Ride, about a 10–15 mile roundtrip from the Medical Center. One designated driver, who meets specific criteria, drives the van and passengers to the Medical Center, parks in a designated spot, and after the shift, the group returns to the van for the ride back. The driver leaves the van at the Park and Ride and keeps the vanpool key until the next use.

The Designated Driver must meet age, license, driving history, criminal history, and clean driving criteria.

Yes, insurance is provided, through METRO’s designated Agent, automobile liability insurance, state authorized self-insurance, excess liability insurance, or a combination thereof, equal to a combined single limit (CSL) of $3,000,000.00 to protect the Driver, while operating a vehicle provided by STAR, from claims made by others for bodily injury (including death) and property damage.

METRO assumes the risk of loss or damage to a vehicle provided by STAR under a set agreement, unless loss or damage occurs while the vehicle is being used or operated during in an unauthorized manner.

Yes, however, the parking location must be at the Designated Driver’s residence and requires written approval.

METRO STAR offers an Emergency Ride program in case of unforeseen emergency, and work schedule adjustments.
